Namrata Thapar was appointed IFC Global Head of Mining in March 2015, succeeding Tom Butler. Namrata joined IFC in 1999 and has played a leadership role developing IFC’s mining business with a focus on sustainability and development impact. Prior to this role, she was Principal Investment Officer in the mining team and led multiple projects with clients ranging from major diversified companies to juniors, including both debt and equity investments. Namrata earned an MBA from Marymount University in Virginia and a B.A. Honors in Economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce in New Delhi. She is based in Washington D.C.
