Kenneth Bagamuhunda is a Director of Customs at the East African Community since 2004. He has championed the development and implementation regional customs programmes. He is currently at the forefront of consolidating the EAC Customs Union into a functioning Single Customs Territory, an initiative that has attracted a lot of enthusiasm from a cross section of stakeholders. He has also been deeply involved in the negotiations of the COMESA- EAC-SADC Free Trade Area.


From 2001 to 2004, Kenneth was an Assistant Commissioner of Customs in Uganda where he was responsible for customs operations, strategy and planning. He actively participated in the negotiations of the Customs Union at the East African Community where he led a team of Experts that developed the EAC Customs Legal instruments.


Kenneth worked with the Ministry of Finance in Uganda from 1985 to 1992 and lectured at the Makerere University Business School.


Kenneth holds an MBA and Bachelors Degree in Economics from Makerere University. He has done post graduate Executive programmes  in Tax Policy (2011) and Trade Policy (2013) at Harvard Kennedy School.


Kenneth is married with three children.
