Bio
As Vice President of Born Free Africa, Taylor co-leads a philanthropic effort to embed talent within African Ministries of Health to accelerate the work to eliminate mother to child transmission of HIV. While there has been a 45% decrease in children born with HIV around the world since 2009, in 2013 there were 240,000 children born HIV+. Nearly 98% of all cases are preventable. Born Free has aligned with many global partners in believing that no child should be born with HIV and that elimination is possible. To that end, Taylor manages Born Free’s investments in top African talent, who work within national Ministries of Health to drive progress in the programs for elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV. Taylor works closely with Born Free’s government partners to design and recruit teams to support these efforts, including a 7 person team within Kenya’s Ministry of Health, launched earlier this year. In her role, Taylor also manages partnerships with the private sector, including Born Free’s partnership with Vogue and the fashion industry during the 20014 awareness campaign #joinbornfree. Taylor is passionate about structuring and developing teams and leaders for success. Her career began in management consulting with Mercer in New York and continued when she launched her own practice and moved to Mongolia to design leadership and executive development programs for a Fortune 500 natural resources company with startup operations, as part of a team tackling questions around sustainable development. Taylor holds a BA from Colgate University and is a StartingBloc fellow. Her last name means good heart in Italian and she loves to pursue “the once in a lifetime.”
