Bio
Faizal Karmali is the Associate Director, Network Engagement & Bellagio Programs at the Rockefeller Foundation. His works is focused on enabling Foundation teams to strategically leverage existing and new networks, as well as the Foundation’s Bellagio Center, in service of its social impact objectives. Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Faizal led a growing solar energy company and co-founded an award-winning social enterprise that built software for Canada’s energy sector. His foray into entrepreneurship was preceded by a decade working with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and its affiliates in North America, Asia, Europe, and East Africa, including time with the Department of Diplomatic Affairs at the Secretariat of His Highness the Aga Khan. During this time he was involved in assessing, supporting, and implementing a wide array of investments that spanned sectors including energy, aviation, media, health, and education. Faizal has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, a Masters in International Education and an MBA from INSEAD.
