Bio
Carrie Hammer, a graduate of Economics and Women’s Studies from UCLA, started her career as an advertising sales executive at Tremor Video. She quickly realized the gap in the market for well fitting, contemporary workwear for modern professional women, and began to design custom pieces for herself. After overwhelming response to these dresses from friends and colleagues, Hammer went to study Fashion Business and Marketing at Parsons Paris School of Art and Design. In 2012 Hammer launched her namesake brand, CARRIE HAMMER, in New York City to deliver stylish professional wear to women. Hammer’s passion extends beyond fashion to empowering women inside and outside of the workplace. This was exemplified in her debut fashion show during New York Fashion Week February 2014 where she featured “Role Models Not Runway Models,” including the first ever model who happened to be in a wheelchair on the runway. Since the company’s launch Hammer was admitted to, and is a graduate of the prestigious Tory Burch Foundation Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program. In 2015, Hammer was named Forbes 30 Under 30, and 15 Women Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2015 by Entrepreneur Magazine. Hammer also holds a certificate in Fashion Law from the Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law School. Hammer and her line have been featured on CNBC, Fox Business News, Forbes, Good Morning America, Elle, Marie Claire, and Cosmopolitan to name a few.
