Transformation Through Adversity - Sir William Atkinson

Speaker

Description
Sir William Atkinson is recognised as one of the UK’s most respected educational leaders. Born in Jamaica, Sir William took up his first teaching post in 1971 and was promoted to become a successful head in several London schools. He is lauded for his work with Phoenix High School in Hammersmith. When he took over the running of the school it was one of the most challenging in the UK, with only four per cent of pupils achieving five top GCSE passes. In this session Sir William will explore how to lead and nurture a culture of student retention and achievement, even within the most challenging settings.
