| Broadening Horizons: Geography with Asperger Syndrome Speaker Description While ASN education for students with AS tends to emphasise a 'social skills training', the students themselves often express fatigue with this approach. Using Geography (specifically the GeoCapabilities approach of Lambert, Solem & Tani) offers the chance to provide students with access to a knowledge based subject that can also challenge their often fixed views, and provide them with tools for understanding other people. The results of a Masters dissertation showed this was a positive learning experience for a group of students with AS at college. |
