Effects of Presence from a Realistic Virtual AI on Perception and Depth of a Hallway in Virtual Reality

10/04/2017
1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Expo Hall/Career Fair

Objective: Inspiration
Audience Level: All
Session Type: Poster

This poster reports our investigation of how subjects assume destination prediction and spatial judgments of their surroundings. The main focus of this work is the presence of a realistic, virtual and autonomous intelligence (AI for short). In previous studies, it has been evident that the general presence of a person has both provided a more realistic point of view towards surroundings as well as estimating size and distance using a scale based on the size of a person. The subjects will be presented 9 different hallways, constructed from Autodesk Maya and simulated in Unreal Engine 4 using the HTC Vive Headset, in a randomized order.
