Privacy management has been conceptualized as finding the optimal balance between, e.g., withholding and sharing information or being more or less accessible. But is this optimal balance just an individual preference that changes moment to moment? I show how specific life phases are associated with certain optimal privacy behaviors, and explain the underlying psychological and social drivers.
