Qualitative research methods result in large amounts of unstructured text in the form of transcribed interview and fieldnotes. Researchers painstakingly annotate the text with various types of labels in a process known as 'coding'. I take a mixed-methods approach to design and prototype an interactive system based on natural language processing to partially automate the process of coding.
