Existing spellchecking methods require a standard list of spellings and a large corpus in order to detect and correct misspellings. However, since Nigerian pidgin does not have these requirements, a technique that detects errors based on the various renditions of words in a document have been developed and it provides a means of automating the process of spelling standardization via crowdsoucing.
