This workshop will provide a brief history of American Indians and their relationship with and treatment by the United States government which will provide a backdrop for understanding the importance of making a long term commitment and building trust if you want to successfully engage this community. It will also cover specific steps in developing the necessary partnerships to serve both urban and tribal communities and discuss mistakes BBBS agencies have made in this process, what has been learned to date and how to avoid some common mistakes.
