Associate Professor Dawes trained at the Royal Free Hospital
School of Medicine, London; qualifying in 1982. He trained in ORLHNS in Bath,
Bristol and Newcastle before taking up consultant practice in Sunderland, UK.
In 1998 he moved to New Zealand where he has worked for the last 20 years at
Dunedin Hospital and the University of Otago. He is the current President of
the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. His primary
interest is Otology, but he has a general scope of practice. His research
interests are Chronic Otitis Media, Adenotonsillar disorders and Anatomy of the
temporal bone and neck compartments.
