Veterinary colleges are looking at ways to create the practice ready veterinarian. Western University of Health Sciences began with a paradigm shift in having a fully integrated curriculum beginning clinical service and skills from day one. In the first two years, communication is formally taught in clinical skills course, and interprofessional education classes, with informal teaching in clinical services and problem based learning small groups. This presentation will outline the presentations, standardized client encounters, assessments, and class activities designed to build solid skills for the graduating veterinarians.
