Falls amongst frail residents is a persistent and complex challenge for long term care operators, staff and residents and their families. Falls are one of the most common causes of injuries such as hip fracture and head injuries, and can also lead to psychological distress such as fear of falling that reduces mobility and social interaction in our residents. In recent years, as a sector, we have intensified our efforts to reduce falls, with 88% of homes last year choosing falls as a priority indicator in their Quality Improvement Plans. There is a range of improvement options to consider, from optimizing the environment, to medication reviews and mobility aids. Join us for a panel discussion to hear from sector leaders and colleagues on the most promising and leading change ideas to reduce falls in our homes.

Moderator: Dr. Sid Feldman
Speakers: Susan McNeill, Caitlin McArthur, Kim Stelmacovich
