Long-Term Care Business Intelligence Dashboards
To drive quality in homes, it is important to understand and continuously monitor and compare the home’s key data metrics. However, as more and more data is being generated and reported for the long-term care sector, utilizing this information for quality improvement is becoming time-consuming, complex and difficult. To improve ease and accessibility of information, the Ontario Long Term Care Association has developed business intelligence dashboards which bring together data in a visually appealing, easy to use, single point of access. In this session, Tommy Wong will discuss how the Association is using long-term care key data metrics to support members to drive quality in their homes.

Potentially inappropriate use of antipsychotics: A new data quality initiative by Health Quality Ontario and CIHI
Data is critical to quality improvement and evidence-informed decision-making in healthcare. The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and Health Quality Ontario (HQO) work together to provide trusted, high-quality data to long-term care homes and support the use of this data for quality improvement purposes. Continuous efforts to monitor and improve data quality ensure data are reliable and valid. Join CIHI and HQO to learn about an initiative involving a deep dive into the data behind the Potentially Inappropriate Use of Antipsychotics indicator, and how the results of this analysis may be incorporated into the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) process for long-term care.

Benefits of transitioning to the interRAI LTCF
This presentation will highlight how Ontario’s LTC sector could benefit from transitioning to the updated interRAI assessment standard used in long-term care, the interRAI LTCF. Some benefits include

∙ Improved standardization;
∙ Reduced data collection burden;
∙ Reduced data submission burden;
∙ Improved data quality;
∙ Improved health system integration, etc.

 It will also demonstrate and share how and why other jurisdictions are moving forward; as well as, how the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) will be supporting the collection of the updated long-term care assessment with our new integrated interRAI reporting system.
