Prior to joining Callaghan Innovation, Chris was the Chief Research Officer and Vice President for Lux Research, where he led teams of industry analysts and consultants providing emerging technology intelligence and strategic advice to hundreds of the world's most innovative companies and agencies. He joined Lux in its early start-up years, having worked for General Electric, managing global technology programs and product development for several years, gaining first-hand experience in commercializing new products. 

Previous roles included serving as a Senior Scientist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory's Center for Biomolecular Science and Engineering, as well as a fellowship at the University of North Carolina as his first stop in the U.S.

Chris received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Canterbury and is the author of over 25 scientific articles and reviews, and co-inventor of numerous patents in the field of chemical and materials development.
