Peter has been Chief Executive of GS1 New Zealand since 2004 and sits on
the GS1 Global Advisory Council. Peter has expanded GS1’s role to serve many
sectors of the New Zealand economy, including fast moving consumer goods,
DIY/hardware, healthcare, agribusiness, government and cross-border trade. Peter’s
other roles include Chair of the Victoria University Business School and
Director of Ako Aotearoa (the National Centre for Tertiary Teaching
Excellence). Peter was a member of the NZ Delegation to APEC Leader’s Summit in
2014, and served on the NZ Government’s Dairy Traceability Working Group. Peter
is an inaugural appointee to the Government’s new Standards Approval Board.
Before joining GS1, Peter worked in senior private sector roles at KPMG
Consulting, Standards New Zealand and Apple Computer NZ. He has served as a
Senior Lecturer in IT marketing at Victoria University of Wellington, an
Adjunct Professor in Information Systems & Computing at Unitec and is Chair
of the Victoria University Business School Advisory Board.
Peter has post-graduate qualifications in science & marketing. He is
a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a professional member
of the Royal Society.
In his spare time, Peter loves going on adventures
with his family, loves DIY and athletics.
