BIOGRAPHY

Chris works in the Wellington region, New Zealand as both a Gastroenterologist and General Physician. He completed his RACP advanced training in 2014 and worked as a Gastroenterology fellow at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, UK in 2015.  Chris has particular interests in GI motility, Nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel disease amongst other areas of gastroenterology and endoscopy.


ABSTRACT

Functional Gastrointestinal Disease

Functional GI disorders are the most common diagnoses in Gastroenterology.  These are currently conceptualised as disorders of Brain-Gut interaction.  This presentation will aim to address the current concepts of underlying pathophysiology and address the recently updated Rome IV diagnostic criteria.  This will also provide an approach to investigation, diagnosis and management of the most common presentations of these functional GI disorders.
