Dr Veronika van Dijck 
ORL, Head and Neck Surgeon, Waitemata DHB, Auckland, NZ

Veronika van Dijck is an ORL, Head and Neck Surgeon from Auckland, New Zealand. She completed her medical degree at Auckland University in 2005 and received her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in ORLHNS in 2012. She then completed a Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, including training in Robotic Surgery through the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Consultant ORL Head and Neck Surgeon at Waitemata DHB and is developing an interest in Surgical Education through RACS. She lives in Auckland with her husband and 1 year old son.


The Challenge of Change – Early Years Post FRACS

This discussion will focus on three aspects regarding the early years of fellowship/consultancy, from the perspective of young Fellows. Firstly the organisation and challenges of an international fellowship in Australia, Canada and the UK. Secondly the organisation of an SMO position and potential ways facilitating this process. Lastly discussion around some of the challenges faced in today’s economic and healthcare environment as a new SMO.
