Patient Relations focuses on improving how hospitals, Community Care Access Centres (CCACs), and long-term care homes gather and respond to feedback, concerns, and complaints from patients, residents, clients, and their families and friends. Health Quality Ontario’s (HQO) expanded mandate under the Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) includes a requirement to measure and report on patient relations and support quality improvement in hospitals, home and community care (Community Care Access Centres), and long-term care homes. To meet this obligation, HQO established a Patient Relations Advisory Group. This group selected patient relations indicators and guided pilot testing of measurement and reporting to inform provincial rollout. Through this presentation, attendees will learn about the findings from the environmental scan, consultation, multi-sector survey and the pilot testing of indicators and facility-level reporting across 32 sites in Ontario.
