ABSTRACT

Advanced maternal age is an increasing clinical challenge for those who provide care to woman around the time of pregnancy and delivery. With the advent of advanced reproductive techniques, and oocyte donation in particular, there is now no clear age limit to conceiving a pregnancy. In this talk, I will cover the implications of this for maternal and fetal outcomes. I will discuss how we might counsel couples prior to these treatments and some of the interesting ethical questions raised by this “brave new world”.
