John A. Stanford, PhD

Title: Extending biomedical research opportunities to high schools

Dr. Stanford is an associate professor of Molecular & Integrative Physiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC). He is a systems neuroscientist whose research focuses on aging and neurological conditions that affect motor function. He earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Mississippi at Oxford and an M.A. and Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Kansas at Lawrence. He received his postdoctoral training in neurobiology of aging at the University of Kentucky at Lexington. Dr. Stanford serves as the Program Director of the K-INBRE and is the KUMC Campus Coordinator. He is also the Program Director of the KUMC Biomedical Research Training Program and serves as Co-President of the Society for Neuroscience – Kansas City chapter.
