BIOGRAPHY
John Henley is a general physician who has worked most of his clinical career at Auckland City Hospital.
In 2008 he left Auckland to do locums throughout Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Samoa and the Arctic. He now works part time for the General Medicine Department at Auckland City Hospital.

The Cognitive Apprentice - The Apprenticeship Model Rejuvenated
The Apprenticeship Model of clinical education stood the test of time until the second half of the 20th century when teaching headed back to institutions and away from the workplace.However in the last twenty years or so there has been a renaissance of the model as teaching and learning headed back into the communities where practice takes place.The model has changed and the apprentice is no longer passive in his or her learning and the 1:1 approach has been replaced by multiple people having input into student learning.This talk summarizes how the development of the Cognitive Apprentice has rejuvenated the apprenticeship model of teaching
