Picasso and History Museum

First stop on the tour will be the Picasso Museum.  The exhibits extend over three palaces on the Carrer Montcada and contain pieces donated by Picasso himself and his friend, Jaime Sabartes.  The collection includes early examples of his work plus 141 ceramic pieces donated by his widow, Jacqueline.

The tour will then move to the Museum of History.  Officially opened in 1943, the museum is responsible for conserving and documenting the collections and architecture of the city, including its history from its origins to the present day.  The exhibits include examples of the medieval and contemporary history of the city, plus the archaeological remains of the ancient Roman city of Barcino in the basement area.
