The “Distancing” Myth & Possibilities for the Future of Israel Education
with Professor Theodore Sasson

Communal concern over the changing nature of young North American Jewry’s connection to Israel has sparked investment in Israel studies, Israel education, and Israel educational tourism. But how much of our concern is based on actual trends, and how much is based on our cultural propensity for worry?  Professor Theodore Sasson, author of The New American Zionism, will guide us on a journey to understand how changing our perspective on Israel education can enable us to better engage the next generation of Jewish youth.  Joined by Shalom Orzach of the Jewish Agency for Israel and Tova Birnbaum of the World Zionist Organization, this session will also highlight cutting edge social change and Jewish renewal initiatives that embody this new relationship between North American Jews and Israel.
