Challenge to Change with Alexis Kashar
Opening by Jay Ruderman of the Ruderman Family Foundation, Presenting Sponsor of Disabilities Programming

Alexis Kashar is a successful civil rights and special education attorney.  She is also deaf.  As a parent wanting to become more involved with the Jewish community, she has found her deafness to be a barrier not only for herself, but also for her children even though they are hearing. Her painful exclusion from the Jewish community has been isolating for Alexis and her family.   In this compelling session, Alexis will challenge us to commit to making change in our camps, schools, synagogues, and community centers so that the joy of Judaism is accessible to more children and their families.
