Workshop Description
This workshop will:
- Review the pedagogy
supporting the use of tablet computing in undergraduate healthcare education.
- Share the experiences we have had in a variety of contexts of use of these
devices in a medical undergraduate curricular context, including OSCE,
admissions, attendance monitoring, student use, and patient feedback.
- Discuss practical
issues such as logistics, device management, required infrastructure and issues
at University/NHS interfaces
- Give participants
hands-on experience with apps
Workshop Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Summarise the pedagogy relating to tablet computing in healthcare education
- Describe what applications may be suitable for tablet devices
- Discuss the strengths and weakness of different platforms
- List the key practical issues to consider when introducing tablet devices for defined tasks
- Use a variety of apps in a variety of contexts
- State if and how tablet computing could be used in their own institutions
