TEL Meeting - Technology Enhanced Learning - Level 3 (09.00-10.30)

Workshop Description
The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) special interest group (SIG) is concerned with how technology is used to enhance the learning experience, in both classroom and workplace settings. We are interested in how technology is used to do more than merely replace traditional teaching methods. Although we believe that technology should not drive the learning experience, we recognise that it also creates new possibilities and as educators we should look to how it can develop learning and help us achieve worthwhile educational goals. Thus, this workshop will have appeal to all educators, not just the technology champions and gurus.

The aims of the workshop are:

  •              To explain the purpose of the TEL SIG
  •              To showcase some TEL innovations and provide top tips
  •              To explore implications for learning and teaching

The workshop will combine short presentations and discussion groups. Showcases will include looking at how students’/trainees’ own devices can be harnessed for learning (in the classroom and in the workplace) and the use of social networking services (such as Twitter) for education. Opportunity will be provided to hear about other TEL innovations. If you have something to offer, please contact the workshop organisers to discuss. All welcome to come along, share ideas and experiences and learn something new.
