Robert McGuinness joined the Fire Underwriters in 2009 as a Public Fire Protection Specialist. Over the past 10 years he has been integrally involved with the FUS team in the digitization and mapping of the Canadian Fire Insurance Grading Index. He has also worked on various fire hall location optimization projects, using GIS methods, with municipalities across Canada. In 2018, Robert took on the role of Technical Director of the Fire Underwriters Survey group which subsequently led to the building fire risk prediction validation project with Vancouver Fire Rescue Service and New Westminster Fire Rescue Service. He registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGBC in 2013 and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers as a Professional Member in 2015.
