Rebecca Field is an Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon
based in Christchurch. Her subspecialty interests include rhinology and facial
plastic surgery. She completed Otorhinolaryngology training in New Zealand in
2014 and a fellowship in Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Manchester
Royal Infirmary in 2016. Nasal Reconstruction - the Mancunian Perspective The nose is particularly vulnerable to cutaneous malignancies and in the New Zealand setting these cancers are becoming increasingly common. Reconstruction of nasal defects, using the principles of repairing ‘like with like’ and respecting the aesthetic sub-units is important, not only maintain nasal function but to also optimise cosmetic outcomes in an aesthetically sensitive area. Dr Field will draw on her Fellowship experience in the Manchester UK Rhinology Unit to highlight the reconstructive principles and present a summary of the Unit’s results.
