Sponsored by the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and hosted at Georgetown University, this event provides students with a model college experience, simulating what it would be like to live and learn on a college campus. NSLC combines cultural exposure with a special mock congress programming, intended to widen the views of participants and challenge them to become experts on a particular topic in the news. As part of their Washington, D.C. experience, NSLC students take time to meet with their respective Members of Congress on Capitol Hill and visit national monuments. Attendees engage with other TRIO students from across the country while also hearing stories from TRIO alumni who have successfully pursued higher education and exemplary career paths. Overall, students experience a nurturing yet challenging week that promotes leadership skills and personal development.\n Click here to read about the 2017 NSLC that took place recently in Washington, D.C.
