The GAO’s 2018 Yellow Book (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards) sets a high bar for government auditors.  In this eight-hour course we will apply foundational concepts and requirements such as auditor independence, competence, and quality control to our engagements.  This will be a refresher of all Yellow Book standards applicable to performance audits, with specific emphasis on the changes in the 2018 revision. We will also dig into the new internal control documentation and reporting standards.

 

Objectives:

  • Apply the ethics, independence, and competence standards to your team
  • Define the new internal control documentation requirements
  • Identify the layers of quality control on a Yellow Book engagement
  • Refine objectives and related conclusions and opinions
  • Create a finding using the five elements of a finding
  • Define planning, documentation and reporting requirements
  • Identify reportable conditions including internal control weaknesses
