Please join us as Patrick Flaherty '06, Assistant Director of Research and Information at the Connecticut Department of Labor, leads this online workshop.
How do you navigate the career world in an era of
economic uncertainty?
Job opportunities are growing nationally, however, some
places like Connecticut have yet to
recover all of the jobs lost in the Great Recession. The government sector at
all levels (federal, state, and local) continues to contract.
However, despite slow job growth in Connecticut as a
whole, hiring is beginning to pick up. People who delayed retirement due to the
recession are beginning to leave the labor force, creating demand for
replacements. Economic restructuring is
occurring in numerous disciplines: for example, retail is facing serious
competition from online shopping, but this has created new opportunities in the
transportation (shipping) and warehousing sector. There are thousands of
openings and employers say they would hire more if they could find workers with
the right skills.
This webinar will discuss the economic outlook,
conditions and projections of Connecticut and the national scene as seen from a
CT Department of Labor expert and will dive into some of the tools available to
you through the CT Department of Labor that can help you in your job search
