The UConn Dallas Alumni Network invites, alumni, friends and family to The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek for a discussion with Professor Rachel O’Neill on your genetic blue print. Also hear from Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Davita Silfen Glasberg, for a UConn reception and conversation.
As the age of personalized medicine
is ushered in as part of a growing standard in health care, technological advances have
allowed scientists to study how the DNA code of every person’s genome can
inform health care decisions tailored to each patient. Likewise, scientists can
tap into the genomes of many different organisms, from land animals to deep sea
dwelling creatures, to understand the impact humans have on the global
ecosystem. But how much can we really know about a person from their genetic
blueprint and how much can that blueprint change - or be changed? In this
information age, how does this information impact you, your life, and the world
around you?
Event is $10, inclusive of hors d'oeuvres, beer & wine.
