John Brady, Protem Partners, Founder & Executive Director [more info]
February is now UConn Alumni Career month! The UConn NYC Alumni Network invites alumni, friends and family to their first annual Elevate event on February 27th. Come learn and network with us as our panel of speakers talk all about careers.
Ever wonder what its like to work at Google? In the
course of 20 years, Google has built a stellar reputation as an employer. The
company frequently ranks number one on lists of "Best Places to
Work," like it did this year on Glassdoor and for 2018 is ranked as the #1 place to work according to Fortune, which follows 5 previous years being listed as the best place to work.
Have you ever wanted to get an inside look as to what it's
like to work at Google? Well, now you can. Hear from one of our own rock star alumni, Elizabeth James '08 (BUS) who works for Google and has risen through the ranks and has established herself as a senior manager working. Also hear from one of Google's primary recruiters on the do's and don'ts of applying to a tech firm like Google. Rounding out the panel is John Brady, Founder & Executive Director of Protem Partners, UConn Alumni's preferred resource for Career & Management Consulting who will moderate and help us understand the broader employment landscape as a whole.

This session is designed for professionals seeking to solidify or even improve their position in a shifting labor market as well as those wishing to gain insight in how to be more Googly, and to gain inside information on getting your foot in the door at a place like Google.
As we know, every job is temporary. The acceleration of market shifts, strategic reorganizations and merger activity make this constant state of churn more unsettling than ever. Now is the ideal time to be more deliberate about influencing how your value is viewed both inside and outside of your current employment situation.
This discussion will help us to : * Identify your secondary (and usually overlooked) talents/skills * Stating your business value in ways that are both compelling and substantive * Who needs to notice and how to tactfully and/or subtly help them notice
* Understand the hiring world of Google and what you need to do to stand out, and get noticed by companies like Google.
This is a FREE event. Light food and refreshments will be available.
Register below to let us know you're coming! Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP in advance, as this event is expected to sell out!
