February 1, 2018      6 pm - 9 pm         3 credits

Insects: Local and Exotic - Dr. Chris Looney, WSDA and Corey Chantry, All Season Pest Control - What is this?  As a PMP you encounter all sorts of insects, some local and others exotic.  Learn about the local Washington insects you may see and manage, as well as the exotic insects you don't want to become established in Washington.

Rodents: Rodent Surveillance and How Rodenticides Work - Michael Lee, Vancouver Rat Project and Dan Schlegel, Bell Laboraories, Inc. - Commensal rodents are a serious pest and public health problem.  Hear the latest from Michael Lee at the Vancouver Rat Project about rodents and potential risks to human health, as well as work on establishing a rodent surveillance program.  Rodenticides are a commonly used tool in rodent management, but do you know how the rodenticides actually work?  Dan Schlegel, with Bell Laboratories, will discuss rodenticide modes of action and use for best results.
