This session covers important topics related to strategies to combat the HCV epidemic among PWID. The session starts with professor Matt Hickman from University of Bristol giving a State-of-the-Art lecture on HCV treatment as prevention. He will present modelling data, but will also touch on how treatment as prevention can be demonstrated empirically. Professor Andrea Cox from John Hopkins University will then share with us some of her knowledge on immunity against HCV, HCV vaccines under development and how these can be tested within the community. Following this talk, professor Jon Arne Røttingen from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health will give an exciting talk on the the recent Ebola vaccine experience, focusing on cluster randomisation and potential implications for HCV trial design. Closing the session, Berne Stålenkrantz from the The Swedish Drug User Union will present their peer training manual "Liver or Die”.
