Do I require a visa?

Under Australia's universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia.

Note: New Zealand passport holders will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements; and permanent residents of Norfolk Island who may be granted a Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island visa on arrival).  For more information, see the fact sheet.

How do I apply for a visa to attend the conference?

For the best possible chance of obtaining a visa to travel to Australia to attend an event, you should:

This event has been registered with the International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The information provided is to assist you in obtaining a Visa so you can attend the conference. IECN assistance will NOT guarantee a visa grant. Visa applicants must demonstrate that they meet all the legislative requirements for an Australian visa.

Letter of invitation/Confirmation of registration

The Australian Institute of Criminology will provide letters of invitation for invited speakers only. A letter confirming the acceptance of your abstract can be provided on request, after you have registered and paid for the conference.

A formal confirmation of registration can be provided on request to events@aic.gov.au. Full name as it appears on passport, passport number and date of birth will need to be provided. Confirmation of registration will only be provided on completion of registration.
