Wisconsin Annual Conference 2018

Young Adult Delegation

REGISTRATION/ELIGIBILITY

Up to three young adults (ages 18-30) from each district may register through this program. If you are an elected member of Annual Conference from your congregation, please do not register here. Instead, please register through the main registration page. If you are not elected by your church but are interested in attending, you must first have approval from Sharon Cook, the Coordinator of Age-Level Ministries. You can contact her at scook@wisconsinumc.org. Once approved, you will be given directions on how to register. Your total expenses for the event will be $50, payable when you register. All other costs are covered by Apportionment giving.

AGENDA

Young adults will be voting members of the Annual Conference. You will be an active participant in all plenary sessions, discussing and voting on all matters. We will have several worship opportunities as well. Young Adults are expected to participate in Annual Conference independently from the youth program. Because of Safe Sanctuaries policies, young adults may not participate in the youth program. You are free to spend time with any other Annual Conference members you would like.

ARRIVAL

Plan to arrive on Friday, June 16. When you arrive, contact Sharon Cook, Coordinator of Age-Level Ministries. She will assist you with getting your conference materials and hotel room assignment. You can reach her on her cell phone: 608-219-7436.

DEPARTURE

Young adults are requested to remain at Annual Conference (AC) until the end of business at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18. We invite and encourage all to remain for the service of ordination and commissioning, which will conclude by 6:30 p.m. Young adults who wish to remain for Learning Day on Monday must contact Angela Ullrich to confirm registration, lodging, and food. If you do not do this, we cannot guarantee lodging or food will be available.

WHAT TO WEAR

Annual Conference runs from Friday to Sunday. Don’t get carried away. You will see a wide variety of dress styles at AC, but most lean toward business casual. You may want to consider a sweater/fleece for layering if the air conditioning is too cold.

HOUSING AND FOOD

Young adults will be assigned 2-3 to a room at the Comfort Suites, next to the Marriott. Each young adult will have their own bed. If young adults wish to make their own lodging arrangements, they should let Sharon Cook know when they register. The Conference will not be able to pay for alternate lodging arrangements.

All meals will be covered for young adults. Breakfast will be at the Comfort Suites, and lunch/dinner will be served at the Marriott. Should you decide to make alternate arrangements to eat elsewhere, you will not be reimbursed.
