Ramon Benavides

Ramón Benavides works for in the Department of Labor and Industries as a Consultant in the Division of Occupational Safety & Health. The Spanish Bilingual Outreach position is specifically assigned to provide outreach and education in the Hispanic Agriculture Community. He fulfills part of his responsibilities as a thirteen year member of the Award Winning WSDA Training Team as well as providing technical assistance and trainings to the Agriculture Industry through Safety and Health Consultations.
 
Ofelio Borges
WA Dept. of Agriculture
Ofelio Borges currently works for the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) in the Pesticide Management Division as a Pesticide Safety Educator. As part of his current position, he supervises the Farmworker Education Program. Ofelio has developed and implemented several pesticide training curriculums including a Worker Protection Standard Train the Trainer program for the state of Washington, in which hundreds of trainers have been trained. Prior to working for WSDA, he worked as a farm manager, pesticide applicator and migrant farmworker. Ofelio also has extensive experience in safety issues related to agriculture.

Nicole's background includes running a 20-year successful small business with her husband while working full-time in the agricultural industry and running our cherry orchard. She is a highly motivated, bilingual business professional trained in Food Safety and Produce Auditing. 
 
Ernesto Carcamo

Ernesto has earned a Bachelor’s in Medicine; a Master’s degree in Ergonomics, and he is a Certified Ergonomist (CPE), fluent in Spanish, with more than 10 years managing occupational health, safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs in semiconductor, manufacturing, mining, government and service industries. I am currently focused on training workers and employers in health and safety. Ernesto has developed e- lessons in Hazard Communication with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS); Nanotechnology safety; Accident Prevention Program, and Ergonomics.

Richard Clyne

As Retro Claims Coordinator, Rick minimizes the financial impact of members’ claims in Washington agriculture’s largest Retro program. His history with workers’ compensation and other government entities is a base for educating and learning from existing staff and offering assistance to farming interests wherever possible. Prior to Washington Farm Bureau, he was with the Department of Labor & Industries, Self Insurance Division, as well as State Fund experience. He also was a Project Manager in Communications for the Retrospective Rating Program. Rick also has a background in litigation. He has taught Real Estate Law, Business Law, Contracts/Negotiations, Macroeconomics and Intellectual Property, also lecturing in Medical Ethics for provider licensing requirements. Rick has a BA in Political Science from Stanford University and earned his JD at Seattle University School of Law, with some emphasis on Health Law and Real Property.
 
Douglas Corulli

Chelan County Sheriff's Office
Deputy Corulli began his career in law enforcement in 1996. He was hired by the Chelan County Sheriff’s office in 1997. He is an instructor for the Sheriff’s office in Defensive Tactics and Active Shooter Response. Deputy Corulli served on the Chelan County Regional SWAT Team and is still active as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator.
 
Rick Gleason

Rick is a Lecturer at the University of Washington in Seattle and has worked in the field of workers safety and health in Washington State for the last 35 years. He is the Course Director for the UW Region 10 OSHA Training Center for WA, AK, OR and ID. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Professional. He worked for Federal OSHA as an Inspector and L & I DOSH and an inspector and consultant.
 
Rick Goggins

Rick Goggins, M.S., CPE Rick has been working as an ergonomist for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries for the past 19 years. Prior to that, he worked with Hughes Space and Communications’ Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs group in El Segundo, California. He has a Master’s in ergonomics from the Institute of Safety and Systems Management at the University of Southern California. Rick is a Certified Professional Ergonomist.

Jim Harry has been with the Dept of Natural Resources for 29 years and has over 27 years of ATV riding experience. He is a licensed ATV instructor through the ATV Safety Institute. Jim has developed many training programs for DNR and has provided training to many other state agencies as well.
 
Darren James

Darren James, Safety and Health Specialist, VPP Coordinator, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Darren has over 17 years of safety and health experience. Prior to becoming a safety and health specialist for the State of Washington Darren gained valuable work experience in the private sector, primarily in transportation and warehousing. He has been with the Department of Labor & Industries in the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) for 11 years. Darren has worked as a VPP Coordinator for DOSH for the past 4 years. As a coordinator Darren is responsible for working closely with Employers who express interest in VPP participation. Darren will help employers through preparations leading up to application submittal and then through the onsite evaluation process. Darren helps employers find suitable mentors and DOSH Safety and Health Consultants to assist the site in their preparations for VPP Participation. Darren works diligently to ensure that employers who apply for VPP are set up for success. Darren firmly believes in the mission of the Department of Labor and Industries, “Keep Washington Safe and Working”, and appreciates the opportunity to improve the working conditions for employees in his home state of Washington. In his down time Darren enjoys family activities with his wife and two boys. Spending time with friends, camping, traveling and watching his boys play soccer.

Mariana was raised in Sunnyside Washington. She achieved her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Washington University. Mariana has a wide range of experience from working as a Legal Assistant, managing worker's compensation claims and gained significant experience with healthcare processes when she worked as a Case Coordinator in an occupational health clinic. As a Health Services Coordinator, Mariana will be working to improve quality, cost effectiveness and consistency of care for injured workers in areas of Benton, Franklin, Grant, Adams and Yakima counties.

Harvey McGill

Mr. McGill has presented a wide variety of technical safety and health hazard training programs during the past 25 years for numerous public and private organizations. He has an extensive background in occupational workplace settings and environments inclusive of a very diverse experience with construction and general industry. He is presently a lead instructor for the University of Washington’s Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center and an Oregon-based small business owner specializing in occupational safety and health primary prevention education.

Bruce Olson CSP

In the past Bruce has owned several small pesticide application businesses. In Western Oregon he operated a pesticide application and tree care business providing services to residential, business and industrial customers. In Eastern Oregon & Washington he provided pesticide application and tractor contracting services to multiple large scale poplar tree plantations. Bruce worked at Chateau Ste. Michelle’s vineyards managing pesticide applications. In early 2000’s he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety & Health and attained the Certified Safety Profession certification several years ago. Since 2006 Bruce has served as the Pesticide Compliance Investigator for WSDA covering Chelan and Okanogan counties.
 
Joanne Prado

Joanne Prado works with team of 3 people who investigate reports of pesticide illness. The DOH Pesticide Team identifies the root-causes and applies that information to actions and policy recommendations that prevent illness. Joanne has worked as a behavioral health researcher, a vocational counselor and as a volunteer in the US Peace Corps. She was awarded a Master of Public Health from Cal Berkeley. Her work at DOH focuses on education, illness surveillance and prevention. She returned to school to supplement her Master’s degree with study in epidemiology and biostatistics at UW, and has been working as an Epidemiologist for the Pesticide Program for the past five years. Joanne is committed to data driven and plain speaking public health practice, and brings those values to her work.
 
Jaime Ramon

Jaime Ramon worked in the Washington’s tree fruit industry for approximately 19 years where he conducted work related to the apple and cherry industry. Later he became a member of the Pesticide Management Division’s Farm Worker Education Program; he is a trainer in both, WSDA WPS Hands –on and WSDA WPS Train the Trainer workshops. In addition he works with the Pesticide Compliance Program conducting WPS inspections.
 
Raymundo Rivas

Raymundo has been with L&I for more than 11 years as a Safety & Heath Compliance Inspector for Region 5; before returning to the state Raymundo was the Senior Safety Services Specialist with Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. Currently he is the Statewide Agricultural Safety Technical Specialist for the Department of Labor and Industries where he provides technical assistance on the agriculture industry to internal DOSH and L&I staff, employers, employees, employer associations, employee associations and other stakeholder groups. Raymundo has more than 20 years in and around the Agriculture and construction industries.
 
Carlos Rodriguez

Chelan County Sheriff
Detective Rodriguez grew up in Manson Washington and graduated from Central Washington University.  He was hired at the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office in 2005 and worked patrol until 2013. In 2008 he attended the K-9 academy and is currently the K-9 handler for the narcotics dog. Detective Rodriguez is currently working as a Detective with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. One of his primary duties includes tracking and verifying all sex/kidnapping offenders in Chelan County.
 
Flor Servin

Flor Servin is a pesticide safety trainer for the Washington State Department of Agriculture. In addition, she helps her husband run their apple orchard. Flor identified the need for a hands-on Respirator Train the Trainer in Washington State. Thus, she worked with WSDA’s Ofelio Borges on developing a training curriculum that was successfully implemented through a pilot program conducted in collaboration with L&I in 2014. This workshop offers participants a hands-on opportunity to learn about respirator use requirements for agriculture, how to use, maintain and store respirators and how to properly perform a workplace fit test.
 
Fidencio Vargas Gonzalez

Fidencio Vargas has over 5 years of experience working in the Agriculture industry and approximately 18 months working as the Safety Manager for Kyle Mathison Orchards, Inc. During his time in the industry he has trained more than 600 employees as well as provided hands-on support and guidance surrounding our particular safety program.
 
Angie Ward
Washington Traffic Safety Commission
Angie is a program manager for the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. In her twenty two years working for the WTSC she has managed every behavior change program in the area of traffic safety including impaired driving, seat belt use, speeding, and distracted driving. Previously she worked for two Washington governors and for the Association of General Contractors in Columbia South Carolina. On weekends Angie sings with her husband in an acoustic duo and enjoys spending time with her two teenage sons.
