9.30am - 12.30pm Comparing learning outcomes standards: developing institutional academic quality processes and resources for peer review of assessment National Convention Centre, Canberra

This satellite event aims to build on previously funding Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) work and will address the needs identified across the sector at the recent National Learning Outcomes Standards Forum (NLOSF) (9 August 2013) by:
  1. identifying how to make assessment moderation scalable and sustainable;
  2. identifying how students, other faculty and external stakeholders can be involved in the assessment moderation process; and
  3. developing a network of peer reviewers similar to the external examiners system in the UK.
The event is open to Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic), Quality Directors and academics responsible for academic quality.

The new Learning Outcomes (Coursework) Standards clearly articulates that higher education (HE) providers review and compare learning outcomes and the grading of students' achievements against equivalent courses and units in other Australian institutions at least every 5 years. Compliance with this standard has implications for how universities implement academic quality processes and resources for moderation and benchmarking of assessment of student learning outcomes. Leading academics in peer review, Prof Pip Patterson, Prof Kerri-Lee Krause, Associate Prof Mark Freeman, will contribute to the event as well as Michael Wells from TEQSA. The event will also showcase a national benchmarking project on teacher education (CSU, Curtin, Griffith, UTAS and UWS) which used online software for external moderation.
Cost: $110 (inc. GST)

Delegates can register for this all-day event on the conference registration form or website.
