The Disruptive Thinker

Michael Hewitt-Gleeson
, School of Thinking

What if you took what you thought your business was capable of and multiplied that by 10?  Some would say that’s unrealistic…but not former CEO of General Electric Jack Welch. Jack took this idea, known as x10 thinking, and transformed GE into the most valuable company in the history of the world at the time.

GE went from a USD35 billion manufacturer of everything from locomotives to light bulbs, to achieve a market value of USD484 billion. His approach was all about changing the way a business and its employees think and striving to create as much value as possible - and then ten times more.

Who inspired GE’s amazing transformation?

Jack Welch drew on the knowledge and work of School of Thinking CEO Michael Hewitt-Gleeson, known as the father of x10 thinking.

Want your own Jack Welch moment?  Get ready for an inspiring start to the day and get ready for the way you think about your business to change for the better – maybe even TEN times better!

Join Michael as he captures the essence of disruptive thinking and inspires you to create new value within your business.

09:00am - 10:00am

Disruptive Finance

Show me the money!

In March 2015 Australia’s first property crowdfunding platform was launched.  Within one month, the first residential housing project in Australia was successfully crowdfunded. Overseas, developers in China have already raised a record $806 million through a global crowdfunding campaign. Is crowdfunding set to revolutionise the way Australian developers finance new projects?

As individuals become more in control of their financial decisions, disruption of the consumer finance and banking sector has incredible implications for the property industry.

We explore traditional versus disruptive new financing options, like crowdsourcing, available to both consumers and developers.

Guest panellists:
Jack Quigley, founder of CrowdfundUp .
Rick Chen, Co-Founder of crowdsourcing gateway Pozible

Guest panellists to be announced.

Disruptive Product Showcase

What if we told you a new Australian-first technology AVAILABLE NOW has the energy storage potential to power the average home for up to five days?

That new modular construction and engineered timbers are paving the way for faster, safer, cheaper builds. And not just for houses, Melbourne is home to the tallest timber apartment building in the world.

That we could soon be embracing mushroom bricks and microbial facades?

These are development gamechangers you NEED to know about.
