Call for Innovators' Den and Poster Presentation Submissions

Do you have a new idea or solution for a long-term care challenge?

Apply to share and pitch your innovative concept, idea, service, care team, research, process, technology or product aimed at improving treatment, diagnosis, education, outreach, operations or research at the Innovators’ Den to over 400 delegates at This is Long Term Care Conference.  

Delegates include researchers, ageing care leaders, frontline care providers (nurses, physicians, personal support workers, food service workers, activation, rehabilitation professionals), long-term care residents, family caregivers, ageing care innovators, and policy makers.


Innovations should support long-term care to provide more timely, effective or resident-centred quality care.  Innovations will be grouped into three streams, each with a distinguished set of panellists.  The top innovation in each stream will be featured in an upcoming issue of our
Long Term Care Today magazine, receive an OLTCA prize pack and two complimentary registrations to This is Long Term Care 2016 Conference.

Submission Criteria and Guidelines: 

Eligibility Criteria:   
Applicants may be: students or postdoctoral trainnes, researchers,  OLTCA home, commercial or affiliate members and their staff, or CALTC members.

Streams:
Applicants will be asked to identify their preferred stream, for either the Innovators' Den or a poster presentation under the streams of Discovery, Scale and Spread, and Commercialization. 

The selection committee will inform applicants if they have been selected for poster presentation and/or Innovators' Den. 
  • Stream 1:  Discovery - You have a novel idea. You are looking for an opportunity to engage in research or testing to determine effectiveness, value, and sustainability of your idea or product.  
  • Stream 2:  Scale and Spread - This innovation has been piloted, or tested, and has shown to be effective in a small group of homes or sub-group. Next steps for the innovation are to scale up, spread and evaluate on a provincial or national level, or to demonstrate effectiveness in another group. 
  • Stream 3:  Commercialization - This innovation has shown to be effective, and is now ready to launch to market. Make your pitch for new collaborators and partners!

Poster Presentation: 
There will be several poster viewing sessions throughout the day.  Authors are required to be at their poster during the specified viewing times to facilitate discussion and answer questions.

Poster development tips and guidelines available here (PDF). Posters will be mounted on poster boards that will be provided by the This is Long Term Care Conference. Maximum poster size is 45”x45“


Innovators' Den Session Format:
Presenters will have  3 - 5 minutes to pitch, followed by questions from panelists and voting from the audience.

Selection Criteria:

• Originality
• Relevance/potential to solve a key sector challenge
• Potential impact of proposed product/service for LTC residents and/or families, operators, staff, volunteers and sector 
• Outcomes/results/lessons learned  
• Spread and scale-up/market readiness/implementation feasibility

Important Dates:

• Submissions open: August 24, 2015
• Deadline for submissions: October 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. EST
• Applicants notified of decision: October 16, 2015
• Registration open: September 1, 2015 
This is Long Term Care Conference: November 23-25, 2015

Successful Applicants are expected to:

1. Register for the conference. Register by November 1, 2015 to benefit from early bird rates. Click here to register.
