Dr. Katherine Albion is the Director of the Bowman Centre, located at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.  Katherine is a graduate of Western University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemical and Environmental Engineering, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering.    
As Director of the Bowman Centre, she is responsible for Canada’s largest clean-tech incubator which provides client companies with laboratories, pilot plant infrastructure and offices for research, commercialization and entrepreneurship.  Katherine has co-authored Canadian Academy of Engineering reports focused on the development of sustainable energy technologies identified as having a significant impact on the future of Canada’s energy supply. 

 
Clement Bowman

Dr. C. W. Bowman is Chairman of ProGrid Ventures Inc. and inventor of a methodology for evaluating intangible assets, such as intellectual capital. As Vice-President, Esso Petroleum Canada, he was responsible for the Esso Research Centre at Sarnia, Ontario. As founding chairman of the Alberta Oil Sands Technology and Research Authority, he managed a technology fund of several hundred million dollars for joint projects with Canadian and multinational companies to recover and upgrade bitumen from the deeply buried Canadian oil sands.

Two years in auto parts manufacturing (Wescast) and five years in the semiconductor industry (Gennum).
 
Charles Fairbank

For the past 40 years, Charlie Fairbank has been the fourth generation owner of Fairbank Oil. Keeping the 350 heritage wells operating in Oil Springs, Ontario is his principal occupation but his life’s work is dedicated to gaining recognition for the Oil Heritage District. 
 He has given numerous lively speeches and media interviews, staged many events, published books and successfully reached out to universities. The University of Toronto, Western University and West Virginia University have all done research at Fairbank Oil. For more than two decades, Charlie Fairbank also volunteered his labour and expertise at the Petrolia Discovery, an outdoor oil field he helped found in 1980. 
 He has won numerous awards for the breadth of his work. Among them are the Heritage Canada’s lifetime achievement award for heritage conservation (2013); the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame (2011); and the Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in heritage (2008).

Marilyn Gladu is a professional engineer from Queen’s University who has worked in the petrochemical engineering and construction industry within Sarnia Lambton for over 30 years. As a member of the Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance, as well as Business Development Director for the largest engineering firm in Sarnia, and as advisory board member for the Bluewater Technology Access Centre, Marilyn is engaged in helping projects locally to move forward.

Dr. Andrew Leach

Andrew Leach is an energy and environmental economist and is the Enbridge Professor of Energy Policy at the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from Queen’s University, and a B.Sc (Environmental Sciences) and M.A. (Economics) from the University of Guelph. 
He recently spent a year on leave from the University of Alberta as Visiting Scholar, Environment Canada, where he worked mostly on greenhouse gas policy for the oil and gas sector. Outside of work hours, his free time is spent with his two kids, Will (6) and Caroline (5), as well as tweeting, blogging, cycling, and running.
 
George Mallay

George Mallay has been in the economic development profession for over 27 years and has experience in nearly all aspects of economic development (economic strategy, marketing, land and real estate development venture financing and entrepreneurship) working in a large urban center and smaller rural regions. He has served on a number of government and industry sectors boards.
He is currently General Manager of the Sarnia-Lambton- Economic Partnership.  Sarnia and Lambton County is located in the Province of Ontario, Canada on Lake Huron three hours west of Toronto and one hour south of Detroit Michigan. As an energy and manufacturing complex, the area is historically anchored by refining and petrochemicals and is a major agricultural area that is diversifying into industrial bioproducts and sustainable energy.
George has been a champion for industrial diversification and sustainable development in Sarnia-Lambton. He led the initiative to establish a new Research and Development Park in Sarnia with the University of Western Ontario.  He is past co-chair of the Bluewater Sustainability Initiative. George serves on number of boards including; the Bioindustrial Innovation Canada, Bluewater Technology Access Center and the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce. George holds degrees in economics-geography, urban planning and an MBA. 

 
Bob Masterson

Chemistry Industry Association of Canada
Bob is Vice President Responsible Care with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada. 
Developed in Canada in 1985 at a time the chemistry industry’s social licence to operate was in serious question, Responsible Care is now practiced in 62 countries around the world. A true Canadian success story. Bob holds an Engineering Degree from Queen’s University, and completed a Masters in Public Policy at Carleton University. 
He has worked in Ontario’s nuclear power sector, and spent 15 years as a consultant on environment and sustainability issues within many industrial sectors, including forest products, electricity generation, cement, mining and energy.
 
Patricia Mohr
VP, Economics and Commodity Market

Patricia Mohr is Vice-President, Economics and Commodity Market Specialist at Scotiabank’s Executive Offices in Toronto. Patricia works closely with the Corporate and Investment Banking groups -- including the Oil & Gas team -- with Institutional Equity Sales and Global Risk Management. 
Ms. Mohr developed the Scotiabank Commodity Price Index – the first Index designed to measure price trends for Canadian commodities in export markets. Patricia is a frequent speaker at international oil & gas and mining conferences such as the ‘Platts Crude Oil Markets’ conference in Houston, ‘China Mining 2014’ in Tianjin, China, and the PDAC in Toronto. Ms. Mohr holds an Honours B.A. Degree and a Masters Degree in Economics from The University of British Columbia and originally comes from Vancouver. 
Patricia is a member of the Board of Directors of the Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation of Alberta. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Ms. Mohr spent a number of years with Alberta Energy Co. Ltd. (now EnCana Corp.) in Calgary and with CP Ships and Canadian Pacific Bermuda in London, England as Corporate Economist.
 
Hugh Moran

Hugh is the Executive Director of the Ontario Petroleum Institute (OPI), an industry association representing companies and individuals involved in oil and natural gas production, hydrocarbon storage and salt/solution mining. The OPI’s primary objective is to encourage the responsible exploration and development of oil and natural gas. Hugh has been involved in business, and public affairs for over 35 years previously managing was the David Thompson Health Trust, an Alberta organization assisting communities raise funds for sustainable health care, and the New Brunswick Salmon Growers’ Association, representing the Atlantic Canada salmon aquaculture industry. His experience also includes leading a lobbying campaign in response to the closure of a Canadian Forces Base in Manitoba, chairing a Federal/Provincial Government Industrial Adjustment Committee to deal with the closure of the Campbell Soup plant, and working on a hospital restructuring study for the Ontario Ministry of Health. Hugh is founder and president of By-Pass Ranch Ltd., a company that has operated a ranching business, a real estate brokerage, Canada Trust Moran Real Estate, and since 1991, BPR Communications, a management services firm. He has been involved in community service volunteering the Canadian Cancer Society, United Way, and Voiceprint-National Reading Service for the Blind.

Owner operator of Toolrite Engineering (1964) and KGS Machine (2005); I started out as an apprentice machinist working in the family run custom Machine shop; I gained the status of a certified journeyman as a machinist, millwright, and pressure welder by the age of 26. In 1989 I purchased Toolrite Engineering form my father Ken Perdeaux and have continued on a pattern of steady growth. In 2005 I purchased a custom Grinding Shop, KGS Machine. We now specialize in all types of Custom CNC machining and Custom Spherical grinding; we service the Oil and Gas Industry, Mining, Fabricating sectors locally and internationally.
I have had the pleasure of working many different Boards and Committees, including Lambton College BTAC, Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, and Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance where I am the Chairman for my second term.
I am proud to say that I was born and raised and still reside in Sarnia. I am very proud of this vibrant community that has experienced many times of growth and a few times of recession but has always shown outstanding resilience in our homegrown Oil Industry.

Walter Petryschuk PhD,P.Eng.,FCIC,FCAE

Walter F. Petryschuk was born outside the Point Pelee National Park in Ontario. Raised on a farm, his schooling included a one room elementary facility, secondary education in Leamington, post-secondary studies included the University of Toronto for his B.A.Sc., and McMaster University for his M.Eng. and Doctorate degrees in Chemical Engineering. He has been a registered professional engineer in Ontario since 1960. 
His professional career led to responsibility for Polysar Corporation’s Sarnia manufacturing facilities, Suncor’s refinery in Sarnia and to the presidency of Sun-Canadian Pipeline. Subsequently he was responsible for McMaster University’s spin-off start-up, the Management of Technology and Innovation Institute, and completed his professional career as Director General of the National Research Council’s (NRC-CNRC) manufacturing technology institutes in London and Vancouver. 
In addition, he has been active in professional and local arts organizations. He has been President of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering. Recognition has come in the form of three Queen’s Anniversary celebration medals, election as a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. 
He is currently a volunteer contributor to the Canadian energy scene as Associate, the Bowman Centre (www.bowmancentre.ca).

Marty Raaymakers is the President and General Manager of MIG Engineering (2011) Ltd. and Co-President of pipeintel Inc. MIG is a multi-discipline Firm in its 56th year of operation. Marty’s role is Project Director for all MIG Projects. His forty two years’ experience on engineering and survey projects include specialized expertise in public participation, permitting, environmental impact/routing studies, pipelines, complex oil and gas facility site projects, and transportation related projects.

In 1997 Mr. Ring (Rory) came to Sarnia to join the Council for Economic Renewal, the predecessor of the Sarnia Lambton Economic Partnership, and lead a project building economic strength by providing guidance to local businesses on attracting non-traditional financial capital for accelerated growth. This led to his joining the CIBC in 2000 and TD in 2006 to lead their local Commercial Lending units. Prior to joining the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce he managed the Southwestern Ontario Fund for Investment In Innovation. Mr. Ring (Rory) has always had a close and personal relationship to the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce and had spent two terms on their Board of Directors. He is a Graduate from University of Western Ontario in Political Science and has earned his MBA from Queens University. 
Mr. Ring (Rory) has always been focused on the need for a community to build a sustainable and growing economic base from within while maintaining a strong open for global business philosophy.
 
Jeffrey Simpson
National Affairs Columnist

Jeffrey Simpson, The Globe and Mail's national affairs columnist, has won many of Canada's leading literary prizes. Born in New York, Mr. Simpson came to Canada when he was 10 years old and studied at the University of Toronto Schools, Queen's University and the London School of Economics. In 1972-73, he received a parliamentary internship scholarship in Ottawa. A year later, he joined The Globe and Mail. 
His career with the newspaper began at City Hall in Toronto and later with coverage of Quebec politics. In 1977, he became a member of the paper's Ottawa bureau, and eighteen months later he was named The Globe and Mail's Ottawa bureau chief. From 1981-1983, Mr. Simpson served as The Globe's European correspondent based in London, England. He began writing his national affairs column in January, 1984. 
Mr. Simpson has published eight books and has taught as an adjunct professor at the Queen’s Institute of Policy Studies and The University of Ottawa Law School. He is now senior fellow at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. He is also a member of the executive committee of the University of Ottawa’s Board of Governors. He lives in Ottawa with his wife Wendy. They have three children.

Jim Stanford is Economist with Unifor, the union formed in 2013 from the merger of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) and the Communication Energy and Paperworkers (CEP). Jim received his Ph.D. in Economics in 1995 from the New School for Social Research in New York, and also holds economics degrees from Cambridge University and the University of Calgary. He is the author of Economics for Everyone (first published in 2008), which has been translated into 6 languages. He writes an economics column for the Globe and Mail, appears regularly on CBC TV’s “Bottom Line” economics panel, and is the Vice-President of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. He lives in Toronto with his family.
 
Fred Wilson

Fred Wilson is the Director of Strategic Planning for Unifor. Unifor is Canada’s newest union, created in September 2013 after a two year process between the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP). Unifor has over 300,000 members representing all sectors of the economy and is the largest private sector union in Canada. 
In his role as Director of Strategic Planning, Fred works with the elected officers and senior staff of the union to coordinate major projects and focus attention on Unifor’s foundational goals and political priorities.
Prior to Unifor, Fred was Assistant to the President of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) where he coordinated the union’s policy, campaigns and national services. Fred is a long time social activist and volunteers on the national Board of Directors of the Council of Canadians. He writes an occasional column blog on www.rabble.ca.
 
Mathew Wilson

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters
Mathew is the Vice President of National Policy for Canadian Manufacturer & Exporters (CME), the largest and most influential industry and trade association in Canada – representing over 10,000 companies across Canada. As Vice President, Mathew leads and coordinates the public policy and government relations activities and staff of the association. 
In this role, Mathew is constantly meeting with senior executives from a wide range of industrial sectors across Canada to discuss the challenges and opportunities for their companies and how the association can work to support the growth of their business in Canada. Mathew uses this intelligence and advice to work with federal, provincial and municipal politicians and officials to shape public policy to ensure the business environment is supportive of CME’s members’ interests. 
Mathew has chaired and been an active participant on several senior government advisory committees including on international trade, customs, skills development and immigration. He has authored research papers on a variety of issues including manufacturing opportunities in Alberta’s oil sands, business competitive taxation, North American manufacturing competitiveness, border simplification and skills shortages in Canada’s manufacturing sector. 
Mathew is also the Secretariat for the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition – a group of 55 sectoral trade associations that is chaired by CME – that works on policy and regulatory issues of common importance for their members with the federal government. 
Before rejoining CME in 2011, Mathew worked for the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA). Mathew began his career as a policy analyst and director for CME.

Donald E. Wood, B.Sc. (RMC), B.A.Sc. (U of Toronto), is Associate and Advisory Board member of the Sarnia-based Bowman Centre. He has 45 years experience in the energy and petrochemical industries, including natural gas utility -(Union Gas), petrochemical refinery restructuring (Polysar Limited, Vice President Logistics and Business Development), greenhouse gas capture, conversion and management (Marsulex, senior operating vice president), merger and acquisitions (15 M&A projects completed). His efforts in the Sarnia/Lambton region have helped medium-sized organizations assess strategic alternatives. 
On a broader front, he has acted on behalf of owners and been involved within many business development projects, structuring contracts that can be used as security for financing, mergers, joint venture establishments, divestitures, acquisitions, and acquisition integrations.
