Mustapha Aissaoui is a Product Manager in the Service Router Product Group of the IP/Optical Networks at Nokia. He holds an Electrical Engineering Diploma from Polytechnic School of Algiers and a MASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. Mustapha Aissaoui is an active participant of the IETF PWE3, L2VPN, MPLS, PCE, and SPRING working groups. He is a co-author and a major contributor to many drafts in these working groups.

Sherif Awad

Sherif Awad is a Senior Network/Cloud Computing Architect in the IP and Optical Networking division at Nokia. Sherif Awad is has over 16 years’ experience in IP/MPLS SW development, architecture, design, training and consulting. In the past few years he has focused on the SDN/Cloud and SD-WAN technology areas and played a leading role in key Nokia Nuage VSC/VNS customer trials and production deployments in both the service provider and enterprise space. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science Honors CO-OP) degree from the University of Ottawa in Canada and the Nokia SRA (#192), Nuage DC, Nuage VNS & Openstack COA professional certifications.
 
Thierry Bassani

Thierry Bassani is 48 and has been working in the IP networking sector for the last 24 years. After graduating as Engineer in electricity at EPFL in 1993 he started his career in 1994 at the Swiss Federal Office of Informatics and Telecommunications as IP Engineer. Between 1999 and 2001 he worked for Ascom in pre-sales engineering. August 2001 he moved to Swiss Railways in the business unit Telecommunication. First as Plattform Manager responsible for the Life Cycle of the former Nortel WAN network. Then in 2005 as Senior IP Engineer where he took the lead for the design of the actual Cisco IP network. From 2010 to 2015 he was Team Leader Engineering for data networks and changed in February 2016 to the position of Lead Engineer data networks where he is presently focusing on the project Datacom-NG.

Nigel is responsible for regional product line management for the 5620 SAM in the EMEA region. Nigel has spent the last 20 years in network management starting out with Newbridge Networks before becoming Alcatel, Alcatel-Lucent and now Nokia. He has been involved with the 5620 SAM since its early days and has been responsible for promoting and championing the 5620 SAM in the EMEA region. Prior to this Nigel worked for Mitel Telecom, again working on network management products. Nigel started his communications career in the Royal Air Force working on a number of communications and RADAR systems around the world.

He also spent a several years designing and operating network and cloud solutions while Chief Technology Officer for MLL Telecom in UK, where he was responsible for driving their transition to a hybrid wireline and wireless managed service operator.

He is concentrating on the general IP management part of NSP including Service Fulfillment in SDN, on the NSP platform, and on NSP managing the Evolved Packet Core. Before, Carsten had been working for 6 years in the Global PLM team on the topics of Linux introduction, virtualization and supporting the Wireless Management PLM team. Carsten is with the company since 1985 in various roles in R&D and PLM. He holds a Diploma in Mathematics from the Technical University in Berlin and is based in Germany.

James Cumming is the Product Line Manager for Virtualisation and the Virtualised Service Router (VSR) within Nokia’s IP and Optical Networks Division.  He has an extensive background in the Internet Service Provider industry beginning in 1997. He has worked as the lead Network Architect in a number of global service providers leading the efforts in network integration, product and service development as well as end-to-end network architecture across all technologies.  He has a particular passion for the virtualisation area as his background combines networking, systems and operations which all collide in this exciting period for the industry.  He holds a B.Sc. Hons. degree in Computer Science from the University of Kent. James is based in London, England.

Rafa De Fermin

Rafael de Fermín joined Alcatel in 1993. Since then, he has been involved in several responsibilities in the company, while living in the UK, the US, Belgium and Spain. In August 2013, he was appointed to lead the IP / Optics Networks Group in Europe & MEA, in charge of all Nokia’s business for those technologies in the region. Prior to this position, Rafael led the Global Customer Delivery and Presales teams for the same regional scope. Before that, he spent five years working for the Access Business Division in charge of the Regional Support Centers for different geographies (including Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and Latin America).

Bruno has over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry and joined the Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) Product Line Management team in EMEA in April 2014. His focus is on Service Provider core, edge and aggregation networks and solutions. Prior to his current role he was a Technical Lead at Juniper Networks for 14 years, providing guidance to carriers and large enterprises on how to deploy and optimize their IP/MPLS and Carrier Ethernet networks. He holds an MSc in Telecommunications from the Military Academy in Brussels and made it to Captain in charge of the Belgian Armed Forces’ country-wide data network before leaving and joining BT Belgium as a Design Engineer. He is based in Antwerp, Belgium.

Fabien Delmas is involved in business development for the Nokia IP Routing division, focusing on Critical Infrastructure Networks (Utilities, Transportation, Defense, Government, Oil&Gas...). He is accountable for the Benelux customers within the EMEA region. In this role, Fabien’s technical, communication and business skills help him evangelize industry customers to deploy their mission critical network using the Nokia IP/MPLS platforms. Fabien joined Alcatel in 2014, building his 14 years of telecom post-sales and pre-sales background covering the Carrier and Industry market across EMEA. His path as NPI and Network Design Engineer, designing and validating IP network solutions, gave him a deep technical understanding of network technologies and architectures, which he used to formulate his advice and guidance. Fabien holds a Master degree of Engineering in Telecommunications.

He is recognized as Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) in 2010 for his sustained outstanding technical contribution to Alcatel-Lucent by Bell Labs. He is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Jeff has extensive experience across a number of roles within Nokia ranging from engineering, support, marketing and PLM. Jeff has a focus on strategic responsibilities in the product portfolio as well as ownership of technical marketing across all of the 7750 SR, 7950 XRS, 7250 IXR, 7210 SAS and 7705 SAR product families. Sunil brings over fifteen years of experience in the communications and networking industry, including his former role as VP of business development for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as VP of global product management for Alcatel Lucent’s IP Division. Sunil gained expertise in the networking startup space in his time at TiMetra Networks, where he led product management and standardization. And before that, he held a variety of product management and consulting engineering management roles with Bay and Nortel Networks in New York and Santa Clara. Sunil has co-authored and contributed to multiple IETF drafts. He is also a regular speaker at industry events and conferences. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in CIS.

Hussein has served as Vice President, Marketing & Partnerships at Nuage Networks since January 2017. Prior to this role, Hussein was Sr. Director, Business Development – Partnerships, where he built Nuage Networks Technology Partner Program. Before joining Nuage Networks in 2014, Hussein served as Vice President, Operations & Customer Service at Ciinow, a cloud services start-up that was acquired by Google in 2014. Prior to that, Hussein was a Management Consultant at Alvarez & Marsala, a leading management consulting firm, where he delivered performance improvement, turnaround management and business advisory services to Fortune 1000 companies seeking to transform operations and grow their business.
Earlier in his career, Hussein held leadership roles at Alcatel-Lucent, Ciena, Cyras Systems (acquired by Ciena) and Newbridge Networks (acquired by Alcatel).
Hussein holds a B.Eng. (EE) from the University of Dalhousie and an M.B.A. from UC Berkley, Haas School of Business.

He studied electro-technic in Konstanz (Germany). At first Ralf Kromrey specialized on SDH platforms, later on he introduced xWDM and IP/MPLS in his expertise scope.
In Swiss Railways Company he is the responsible expert for mission critical applications such as interlocking systems and teleprotection.

Craig Labovitz

Craig Labovitz is Nokia General Manager for the Deepfield business line.  Previously, Labovitz was Co-Founder and CEO of Deepfield. Labovitz has developed the core technology, key patents, architecture and commercial strategy behind more than $1 billion in sales of large enterprise and telecom security products. His technology is deployed in more than 700 Internet Service Providers, cable operators, content providers, and mission-critical networks around the globe.  Dr. Labovitz is an expert on Internet infrastructure and cloud evolution. In the 1990s, his seminal Internet research developed the foundation for Arbor Networks technology and served as a catalyst for significant changes in commercial Internet routing software implementations throughout the world. His work was recently recognized with the prestigious ACM SIGCOMM Test of Time Award in 2008.  In addition to his extensive commercial product and research background, Dr. Labovitz has over a decade of operational network engineering experience, including NSFNet backbone engineering, Sprint's first Internet email infrastructure, design of the Department of Defense research network, and the first commercial aviation Internet service. Dr. Labovitz is an active participant in the global network engineering community, including service on the program committee and as the Chair of North American Network Operators Group (NANOG).  Labovitz is the author of more than a dozen peer-reviewed networking research papers, journal articles and patents. His is a frequent guest on national television and radio news programs and his research is widely cited in national media articles and academic publications. Dr. Labovitz received his PhD and MSE from the University of Michigan.

In his current capacity, Eric is responsible for end to end solution design, be it IPv6, EPC, or high-performance virtualization and containerized solutions. This includes integration with SDN, EPC, LTE, VoLTE, Femto, M2M, VMware, and all flavors of Linux including RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and Gentoo. Karyn Lennon

Karyn Lennon leads the Learning Services function for Nokia’s IP/Optical Networks Business Group.  In her role, Karyn is responsible for setting the strategic direction and development of Nokia’s Optical educational services which includes the Nokia Optical Networks Certification Program.  In addition to the Optical program, Karyn directs both Nokia’s flagship IP/MPLS certification program, the Service Routing Certification (SRC) Program which has over 14,000 individuals participating globally and the Nuage Networks Virtuoso Certification Program (NN-VCP). Prior to her role in Learning Services, Karyn held various PLM and Marketing positions at Newbridge Networks and Alcatel-Lucent. Karyn received her Bachelor of Commerce from  McGill University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa.
 
Mats Leppanen

Mats Leppänen is Business Development Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, he’s exploring new opportunities with Nokia and within Nokia.
Before starting at HPE, Mats worked in Nokia for 15 years in different roles, mostly related to Radio business. At HPE Mats have had several positions where he introduced new technologies from HPE into the Finnish IT-market. He has led several cases where combining the best of two companies into common products.
Mats lives in Espoo, Finland with his wife Tiina and their two daughters. During his free time he enjoys rollerblading, BBQ and travelling.

In his role he is deeply involved in customer projects in the pre-sales phase, to understand customer applications and requirements in order to define the proper solution for the evolution of their network infrastructures. Benoit has 25 years of telecom pre-sales background covering enterprise and carrier markets for data, and voice solutions, and has joined Alcatel-Lucent in 2010 after holding different pre-sales management positions in companies such as Wellfleet, Bay Networks and Nortel.
 
Suresh Leroy

Suresh Leroy is the EMEA Regional Product Line Manager for BNG and the residential services within Nokia’s IP and Optical Networks Division.
He joined Alcatel in 1998 as mobile research engineer and has now almost 20 years of experience in telecommunications. He joined Nokia IP division in 2017.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and Master degree in software engineering at Brussels university.

Dr. Samuel Liu is a Director of Product Line Management in Nokia, IP and Optical Networks Business Group, working on optics and IPoDWDM strategy/roadmap across all router product families as well as managing a router platform. Previously, he was a Director of Product Line Management in Juniper Networks, pioneered 100G coherent packet optical products for core and edge routers. Dr. Liu was also responsible for a new core router product platform in Juniper. He has been working in Networking/Telecom industry for 20 years. Before Juniper, Dr. Liu held different product line management, product marketing, product planning, engineering management and system architect positions at Huawei USA, Tellabs and several packet optical start-up companies. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. in optoelectronics engineering at Zhejiang University in China. Additionally, he held several US patents and is a frequent panel speaker in the industry. He served as the organizer for OFC Service Provider Summit and Market Watch between 2010 and 2015.

Since then, Janne's thesis has been referenced twice in peer-reviewed academic IEEE releases. Programmability of networks has interested Janne from the very beginning, and he believes he was the first person to set up a functioning SDN controller and a set of OpenFlow enabled switches in a lab in whole of Telia. Nowadays, Janne is leading the development of Telia SD-WAN service, which is built upon Nuage Networks VNS. Janne is based in Tampere, Finland.

Hamid has over 25 years of industry experience in telecommunications. He architected and pioneered a number of Internet related technologies and was a member of the first IETF industry design team that architected the concept of Provider-based VPNs. Hamid holds over 100 patents that cover a wide spectrum of technologies such as BGP, MPLS, GMPLS, Layer 3 VPNS, Ethernet Virtual Private LAN, IEEE 8021ah, Optical VPNs, and traffic engineering. He edited and co-authored a number of IETF RFC standards and contributions in both IETF, OIF, MEF and ITU-T. Sven Wisotzky is Senior Network Consultant working in the Nokia ION Regional Business Center for EMEA. He has over 20 years of experience in the communications and networking industry. He started his career in the area of engineering and product design for high-available real-time solutions in Alcatel SEL. In 2004 he has joined the Alcatel IP Division, working in the areas of product support, training, integration, technical sales, network and solution design and consultancy. He has a strong background on network management, OSS/BSS integration, performance monitoring and OAM. He holds the academic title of Diplom-Ingenieur (BA) in the field of Technical Computer Science from the Berufsakademie Berlin. This degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree. Sven is based in the metropolitan area of Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
