Exploring QoS on the Virtualized Service Router
This workshop will explore the advanced QoS feature set of the SROS as implemented in software on the Virtualized Service Router (VSR). The VSR brings network function virtualization to the edge of the network and delivers a complete set of network functions for residential, business and mobile applications. The Nokia SROS lends itself well to virtualization, it runs on a Linux 64-bit OS with multi-core symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), supporting both and integrated and distributed virtualized chassis deployment models with a clean separation of the control plane and forwarding path. Participants in this workshop will gain a deep understanding the advanced QoS features implemented in the forwarding path (I/O VMs) of the VSR as they compare to the hardware implementation of the 7x50:
  • Ingress: classification, hierarchical policing and scheduling
  • Egress: marking, queuing, 3-tier hieratical scheduling and shaping
This is an instructor led workshop with multiple hands-on exercises for students.
