WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

Cosmetic science is a fascinating intersection of the disciplines of chemistry, physics, biology, physiology, and psychology. By integrating these fundamental areas, cosmetic science is able to advance our basic understanding of personal health and beauty. The application of cosmetic science continually drives innovation across a wide range of markets and product categories. Proudly, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the oldest and largest non-profit organization serving the cosmetic and personal care community, has been at the forefront of cosmetic science since 1945.

This year, we’re delighted to convene the 71st Annual Scientific Meeting & Technology Showcase, the premier international forum presenting the latest in cosmetic science. Featuring more than 120 podium and poster presentations within 10+ topic areas, two full days promise something for everyone. Whether you are an early careerist, industry veteran, professor or graduate student, this year’s re-imagined meeting provides both an ADVANCED Track and Basic/ NextGen Track — from the fundamental basics to the most advanced innovations shaping the industry. These concurrent tracks will feature thought-leaders from across the industry and beyond. In addition to the two days of technical sessions, the Annual Meeting features two important Continuing Education events (The Safety Assessment as Tool for Global Compliance of Cosmetic Products and their Ingredients and Claim Substantiation For Cosmetic Products), a variety of networking events, and the Technology Showcase which will shine a light on the latest technologies moving the industry forward. The Annual Meeting provides ample opportunities for attendees to learn, reconnect with colleagues, engage with new business contacts, and build bridges across the vast intersection of cosmetic science. Over 1,000 professionals from 12 countries attend the Annual Meeting, representing the industry’s most prestigious corporate, government, and academic institutions.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Some highlights of what you can expect to learn this year include: utilizing microbiome and population data for skin health, applying genetics to beauty in skincare, the mind/body connection and cosmetics, virtual reality in cosmetics, the latest in sun care (via a roundtable discussion), extraction from sustainable sources and application in cosmetics, measuring hair damage and strategies to deliver healthy hair, and much more.
