Chris began her varied career in the health care industry as an occupational therapist after graduating from the University of Southern California. While in California, she became an administrator of a full rehabilitation continuum of care. Chris came to CARF in 1991. She has served as the Managing Director of Medical Rehabilitation and International Medical Rehabilitation and Aging Services during her time with CARF. Chris is a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Chris has represented CARF at international, national, regional and local meetings to promote and interpret standards and the use of accreditation as a quality business and clinical strategy throughout the continuum of care.

 
Dr. Kristen Mauk PhD, DNP, RN, CRRN, GCNS-BC, GNP-BC, ACHPN, FAAN

Dr. Mauk has over 30 years of clinical and academic experience in rehabilitation and gerontological nursing, and teaches in these specialties at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Prior to CCU, she was Professor of Nursing and Kreft Endowed Chair for 24 years at Valparaiso University in Indiana. Dr. Mauk is certified as both a gerontological nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist, as well as holding certification in rehabilitation nursing and as an advanced hospice and palliative care nurse. She has authored or edited eight books, including two that were recognized with an AJN Book of the Year Award. Her textbook, Rehabilitation Nursing, is currently the only nursing book of its kind on the market. Dr. Mauk's gerontological textbook is in its 4th edition and is a bestseller in this specialty area.

In addition, Dr. Mauk has served on editorial boards for Rehabilitation Nursing and Geriatric Nursing, and has written numerous articles and book chapters. She is a frequent presenter at conferences at the regional, national, and international levels. She is the co-founder and President of Senior Care Central/International Rehabilitation Consultants, providing educational, clinical, and legal nurse consulting in rehabilitation and senior care.
