2016 PLA WA State Conference

Parks & Leisure Australia (PLA) West Australian 2018 State Conference, one of the largest scale professional development events on the PLA WA calendar will be held on 21st & 22nd June 2018 at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle. The conference is held every two years and reflects PLA WA’s vision of thriving, connected communities supported by the “People behind the Places” that contribute to Western Australia’s health and wellbeing. Parks that we freely access to walk the dog, exercise, play or just to reflect; the local festivals, fun runs and events that we enjoy; the pools, sport and activities that are available in sports precincts and leisure centres; and the cycle paths, trails and activity programs are some of the many leisure opportunities that are offered by our industry.

The PLA WA State Conference aims to address concerns and issues when planning, constructing, activating/programming and maintaining places, spaces and facilities. The conference will bring together creative and passionate professionals, ready to present unforgettable and informative experiences. It is an important opportunity for those in the parks and leisure industry to share ideas, discuss relevant issues and hear about the latest best practice and research. What’s new, what do we need to consider, how will we ensure that we have healthy, liveable and flourishing neighbourhoods?

Attendees will take home a range of inspirations and innovations for their industry sector.  From planning to activating, we can learn from each other. Designed to bring together professional practitioners in Planning, Leisure and Community Facilities, Parks, Events, Sport and Recreation Participation, Arts & Culture and Tourism, the conference will consist of presentations, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities, as well as technical tours, trade exhibition, and the 2016 PLA WA Awards of Excellence.
